Meet Our Lawyers
Ian Kinman was born in Nigeria in 1958. After living in Africa, he and his family moved to the United Kingdom. In 1966 the family moved to Saskatchewan, where Ian completed his Junior High. He went on to complete his High School in central Alberta; and thereafter attended college in Washington State and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in History. In 1983 Ian graduated with his Law Degree from the University of British Columbia.
Ian has practised law in the Greater Vancouver area since his graduation from Law School. He specializes in corporate commercial work, both as a solicitor and as a litigator. He also has developed an expertise in construction litigation and personal injury work. Ian makes his home in New Westminster. His hobbies include travel, music, the Seattle Seahawks, and nature study, with an emphasis on bird watching. These interests have taken him to a wide variety of different places, including countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, and South America.

Minyoung obtained her Juris Doctor degree at the University of Alberta in 2016 and was subsequently called to the Alberta Bar in 2017. Before she moved to BC and joined Kinman & Associates in February 2021, Minyoung practiced with a small firm in Edmonton, Alberta in the areas of family law, civil litigation, real estate and wills and estate and regularly attended both levels of the court. As an advocate of her clients, Minyoung strives to ensure that her clients understand the legal process and achieve the best possible result.
Minyoung is fluent in English and Korean and her personal interests include travelling, cooking and attending live theatre performances.
Sean practices in the areas of civil litigation, estate litigation and family law.
Sean values being an empathetic and tenacious lawyer with a fearless approach to representing his clients’ interests. He focuses on providing clarity and a clear plan of action when working with clients and he knows how important it is to provide them with a service-oriented and common sense approach.
Sean understands that having legal issues impacts on every aspect of a person’s life. It is during what is often the most difficult time in a person’s life that you need the support of an empathetic, determined and experienced lawyer who is committed to achieving the best possible result.
Sean was born and raised in the Lower Mainland. After obtaining his Bachelor of Arts and his Bachelor of Laws he was admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia in 2010 where he worked in some of the most prestigious firms in the country. After returning to British Columbia, Sean completed his articles with a prominent family lawyer and became an associate with the firm after his call and admission to the bar before joining Kinman & Associates.
When he’s not in the office, you’ll find Sean enjoying time with his wife and three children. Sean is also an avid sportsman, having spent most of his life involved in soccer and lacrosse. He currently enjoys watching his son participate in local youth hockey.
Meet Our Staff
Farshad Hossein Khani
Farshad is one of the office managers and a case manager for Kinman & Associates. He has been associated in practice with Kinman since 1992. While not a lawyer, he has extensive experience in assisting clients as a consultant and interpreter. Farshad was born in Iran and moved to Canada in 1987. He is fluent in both English and Farsi.
Farshad Hossein Khani
Cathy Lee is the accountant and one of the office managers for Kinman & Associates. She also has experience in assisting Korean speaking clients with various legal issues. From Korea, she moved to Canada in 1983.
