Meet Our Lawyers
Ian Kinman was born in Nigeria in 1958. After living in Africa, he and his family moved to the United Kingdom. In 1966 the family moved to Saskatchewan, where Ian completed his Junior High. He went on to complete his High School in central Alberta; and thereafter attended college in Washington State and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in History. In 1983 Ian graduated with his Law Degree from the University of British Columbia.
Ian has practised law in the Greater Vancouver area since his graduation from Law School. He specializes in corporate commercial work, both as a solicitor and as a litigator. He also has developed an expertise in construction litigation and personal injury work. Ian makes his home in New Westminster. His hobbies include travel, music, the Seattle Seahawks, and nature study, with an emphasis on bird watching. These interests have taken him to a wide variety of different places, including countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, and South America.

Gerry is originally from North Battleford, Saskatchewan. He received an honours degree in Arts and Science, and a Master of Education, from the University of Saskatchewan. He taught, and was school principal, in elementary, middle, and high schools in three First Nations communities in Canada for six years. He also taught ESL in Taiwan, Thailand and Hong Kong, for more than ten years.
Gerry completed a Juris Doctor in Law at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2009, while he was teaching English there. After returning to Canada he became a student-at-law through Ontario’s Ryerson University Law Practice Program. This included six-months work at Elgin-Oxford Legal Clinic, where he assisted clients with their disability claims. He was called to the Ontario Bar in January of 2017, and to the British Columbia Bar in June of 2018.
For the past two years Gerry has practiced family law, civil litigation, and immigration law in Abbotsford. He speaks some Mandarin Chinese, and French. He loves to travel, listen to music, and play basketball with his two boys. He is proud of his daughter who is excelling in girl’s rugby. He spends his free time enjoying British Columbia’s natural beauty while hiking and cycling.
David Milburn obtained his law degree from the University of British Columbia and has been practicing law for over 30 years. He specializes in criminal law and has been a successful criminal defence lawyer in a number of high profile cases throughout the years. David focuses on all matters of criminal law and has appeared in cases throughout British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario.
David is also a dedicated horse trainer and owns and raises race horses.

Olja was called to the bar in 2018 and completed her articles with a full-service firm on the North Shore.
Olja received her Juris Doctor with Honours from Bond University and was on the Dean’s List for Academic Excellence. Prior to studying law, Olja completed her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at the University of British Columbia.
Olja’s practice focuses on advising clients on a vast array of legal issues that arise in the course of their business operations.

Olja is fluent in Serbian. Outside of the office, she enjoys travelling, reading and spending time with her friends and family.
Meet Our Staff
Farshad Hossein Khani
Farshad is the office manager for Kinman & Associates. He has been associated with the practice for 21 years. While not a lawyer, he has extensive experience in assisting clients as a consultant and interpreter. Farshad was born in Iran and moved to Canada in 1987. He is fluent in both English and Farsi.

Cathy Lee is the accountant for Kinman & Associates. She also has experience in assisting Korean speaking clients with various legal issues. From Korea, she moved to Canada in 1983.
Haibo (Edward) Dong
Edward was born and raised in central China. After graduating from University in China, he moved to Canada where he has worked with several law firms in British Columbia as a consultant and translator. He joined Kinman &Associates Law Office in 2010. In addition to English, he is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
